Privacy Policy

Effective September 28, 2026

The short version
  • Rhythms has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • Your rhythms, reflections and history live on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud. We can't read them.
  • We never see which apps you block. Apple's Screen Time keeps that private, even from us.
  • We don't sell or share your personal information, and never will.

1. Who we are

Rhythms is an iPhone app and website made by Connor Byrne (“Rhythms”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the Rhythms app and this website (together, the “Services”) handle, why, and the choices you have. If you have a question, contact us.

2. Information the app keeps

Rhythms is built so that your information stays with you. We do not run servers that receive the content you create in the app.

Your account

You sign in with Apple. Apple gives the app a private identifier for your account and, the first time you sign in, the name and email address you choose to share (which may be an Apple private relay address). These are kept on your device and in your iCloud account so your rhythms follow you to a new iPhone.

What you create

Your rhythms, schedules, activities, check-ins (such as how you're feeling and your heart posture), reflections, gratitude entries, memory verses, study highlights, weekly goal, time spent, profile photo and settings. This can include information about your faith, which some laws treat as sensitive. It is stored on your device and synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to your private iCloud database, which only you can access. We cannot see it.

Screen Time and blocked apps

Rhythms uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks to pause apps during a rhythm. Apple represents the apps and websites you choose as private tokens: neither we nor the app can see their names, and your selections never leave your device through us.

Camera and NFC

If you start or finish a rhythm with a QR code, the camera is used only to read the code, in real time and on your device. No photos or video are saved or sent. If you use an NFC tag, the app reads the tag's identifier and stores it with your rhythm so only that tag works.

Alarms, reminders, widgets and Live Activities

These are scheduled and shown by your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us.

Purchases in the app

Monthly support is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. Apple provides us with sales reports that do not identify you, and your iPhone checks your support status directly with Apple.

Diagnostics

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us. Apple prepares these so they do not identify you. You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

3. Information from this website

  • No cookies or trackers. This site uses no cookies, analytics, advertising pixels or third-party trackers. Our fonts are hosted with the site, so no requests go to font services.
  • Your color choice. If you pick an accent color, your browser remembers it in local storage on your device. It is never sent to us.
  • Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider may briefly record technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and running.
  • Giving online. When you give through the website, your payment is processed by a third-party payment processor under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, the amount and limited payment details (such as card type and last four digits) so we can send a receipt and keep required records. We never receive or store your full card number.
  • Emails. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.

4. How we use information

We use the limited information we receive only to:

  • provide and improve the Services, and fix problems;
  • process gifts, send receipts and keep financial records;
  • reply to your messages; and
  • meet legal obligations and protect the Services from abuse.

We do not use your information for advertising, build profiles about you, or use your content to train artificial intelligence models.

5. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Information is handled by these parties only as needed to run the Services:

  • Apple, for Sign in with Apple, iCloud sync, Screen Time, the App Store and in-app purchases;
  • our payment processor, for gifts made on the website;
  • our website host and email provider, to serve this site and receive your messages.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a transfer of the Services to a new owner who agrees to honor this policy.

6. Keeping and deleting your information

  • Delete everything in the app. Open your profile and choose Delete account. This removes every rhythm, session and reflection from your device and your iCloud, lifts any blocking and cancels your alarms and reminders.
  • Delete the app. Removing Rhythms deletes the data stored on that device. Data synced to iCloud can also be removed in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
  • Stop using Sign in with Apple. Go to Settings › [your name] › Sign-In & Security › Sign in with Apple, then choose Rhythms.
  • Gift records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require (usually up to seven years) and then deleted.
  • Emails are kept only as long as needed to help you.

7. Security

Your content is protected by your device's security and by Apple's iCloud encryption. We use reputable providers and limit access to the little information we hold. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to withdraw consent. Because nearly everything lives on your device and in your iCloud, you can view, change and delete it directly in the app. For anything we hold (such as gift records or emails), contact us and we'll respond within 30 days. We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.

European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases: performing our agreement with you (providing the Services), your explicit consent (for faith-related content you choose to enter, which you can withdraw by deleting it), our legitimate interests (keeping the Services secure and working), and legal obligations (such as financial records). You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

California and other US states

We do not sell or share personal information, and we use sensitive personal information only to provide the Services you ask for. You have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. In the past 12 months, the only categories we may have received are identifiers (such as an email address) and commercial information (records of gifts), for the purposes described above.

9. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you contact us or give online from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States or wherever our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards where required by law.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app or on this site before it takes effect.

12. Contact

Questions or requests about your privacy: [contact email].
